Board of Fire Commissioners

Regular board meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM. If you would like to receive special meeting notices, please send your email adress to office@northhighlinefd.org

Liz_Giba

Liz Giba was elected on November 8, 2011 to complete the unexpired term of Position No. 1. She took office immediately, and her six-year term will continue until December 31, 2017.

 

David N Duff (Chairman of the Board) was appointed to fill the remaining term for Position No. 2 in August 2012. Mr. Duff brings years of experience both as a former North Highline fire commissioner and an active North Highline resident.

 

Ray_Austin

Ray Austin (Vice-chair) was elected to Position No. 3 on the November 2009 ballot. Ray is a professional firefighter in a neighoring city, working on the front lines delivering EMS services and fire protection. Ray has a strong background on Labor/Management relations that serves him well as a member of the Fire Commission.

On August 16, 2012, Vice-chair Ray Austin administered the Oath of Office to Fire Commissioner David N Duff (Position #2).

North Highline Fire District is overseen by a three-person civilian board elected by the citizens of the fire district. The board's purpose is to provide fire protection services as set forth in RCW 52.14 by:

  • Determining levels of service and establishing goals
  • Determining type and level of funding, approve budgets, tax levies
  • Establishing policies and approve operational procedures
  • Employing key personnel and surpervising the chief
  • Guiding strategic planning
  • Representating the District to the public
